Instructor payouts (Stripe Connect)
Team 1099 payouts use Stripe Connect Express on the same Integrations key. This is not student Checkout.
Who can do this: Studio managers pay and mark paid on Staff → Payouts. Instructors see their own pay stubs and can finish Connect onboarding.
This is not student checkout.
| Flow | Stripe account | Charge pattern |
|---|---|---|
| Student / member class payments | Integrations secret key | Existing Checkout. Not Connect destination or direct charges. |
| Team 1099 payouts | Express connected accounts | Transfer from platform balance. Prefer Dashboard; optional in-app Transfer. |
Steps
- Give the person a timetable profile (rate, Connect, taught class, or an active staff row). A login with no staff card does not appear on payouts.
- On their staff page, start Stripe-hosted Account Links / Express login.
- Open Staff → Payouts to pay or Mark as paid in ledger. If you pay only in the Stripe Dashboard, still mark the ledger so unpaid totals stay accurate.
What counts as taught pay
- Group class: class rate, else hourly × duration. The class must have ended (
ends_atin the past). Marking it completed early does not pay yet. Cancelled classes are skipped. - Group class attendance: unpaid unless at least one booking is checked in / present. Late check-in counts. Reserved, waitlisted, no-show, cancelled, and late-cancelled bookings do not. Staff → Payouts shows No attendance – not paid for those sessions.
- If attendance is cleared or the class is cancelled after an unpaid line was written, sync voids that line. Already-paid lines stay and are noted (
class cancelled after payment/no attendance after payment). - Appointment: hourly × duration when hourly is set, else class rate. Appointment type price is client-facing, not instructor pay. Cancelled and no-shows skipped. Private appointments do not use the group roster attendance rule.
Gotchas
- Same test Stripe key as student charges. Platform Transfer needs available balance.
- Paying and mark-paid stay admin-only on Staff → Payouts.
